    David’s career spans over some 25 years where he has worked for some of the construction industry’s leading contractors and consultants. After graduating with a degree in Building Engineering and Management he joined Balfour Beatty as an Engineer spending much of his early years setting-out, planning and manging specialist sub-contractors before progressing to Director of Technical Services and subsequently BIM Programme Director.

    During this same time David gained an MSc in Property & Construction Management (Distinction) and University Medal winner as well as Virtual Design and Construction certification from Stanford University, California.

    He was seconded into the Cabinet Office as Head of BIM Implementation and has been part of the UK BIM Task Group helping UK Government realise their Building Information Modelling (BIM) strategy.  He is currently part of the UK Governments Digital Built Britain (DBB) team and was also Chair of the Scottish BIM Delivery Group through the Scottish Futures Trust delivering the BIM requirements of the Scottish Government.

    David is employed by AECOM the multinational engineering firm as Global BIM/IM Consultancy Director helping clients around the globe achieve better outcomes through digitised and innovative approaches to the asset life-cycle.

    In addition to being a Trustee, Fellow and Ambassador of the CIOB he is also a Fellow of the Institute of Civil Engineering, Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors.

    David is recognised as one of the global leaders on BIM and digital asset management strategies and has delivered same all around the globe including current commissions  in Singapore.

Hannah’s experience considering blockchain’s potential for business and the public sector since 2015 means you can work with her to discover whether and how distributed ledger technology might transform your organisation and its services. In June 2018, Wallet.Services published “Distributed Ledger Technologies in the Public Sector” for The Scottish Government, co-authored by her. Hannah is on the Technical Expert Group of the Scottish Government’s Online Identity Assurance Programme. She has been elected as an Honorary Fellow of Durham University; a Fellow of the British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT; and a Fellow of Royal Society for Arts, Manufacture and Commerce.

    Joann Russell is Head of Estates at Historic Environment Scotland, responsible for the conservation and maintenance of the 336 properties in the care of Scottish Ministers.   She is an Architect with a particular interest in how digital technology and geospatial data can improve strategic investment and management decisions for the historic built environment.  Others areas of expertise include assessing and mitigating the impacts of Climate Change on the historic built environment, managing visitor safety in the historic built environment and working with communities to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the built heritage.

    Stephen Preece is an engineer with more than twenty years’ experience in manufacturing, construction and renewables.

    Having graduated from Oxford in Engineering Science, he ran concrete factories for the first fifteen years of his career, manufacturing products from railway sleepers to block paving and even hand-made bollards. He then moved to construction, managing window installation teams across the country before then running the Solar PV and Insulation business for Anglian Building Products. Most recently he worked as an Energy Consultant, advising clients on schemes including biomass, Solar PV, LED lighting, and behavioural awareness campaigns for energy efficiency. 

    He now heads up the business development team for arbnco, where his passion for sustainability and energy efficiency is helping to transform buildings for clients from all sectors.

    In his spare time, Stephen enjoys spending time with his family, climbing Munros and conducting a distinguished choral choir.

    Richard Platt MBA MRICS,   Director in the Real Estate Advisory Services for Lambert Smith Hampton, with responsibilities for Public Sector Services in the North.  He is the head of the Cumbria office, which in 2016 saw LSH appointed to provide the outsourced property services for South Lakeland District Council.  His work with LSH in recent years has been strongly focused on improving the performance of the public sector in the management of assets and generation of revenue streams. He has led a number of portfolio reviews of investment assets for local governments across the North. Richard has had a very varied career and prior to joining LSH he was head of Corporate Property Services for the City of Westminster, where he managed a series of changes in the property portfolio that resulted in annual increase in revenue of £12m in four years.  Previous experience includes working with transitional and developing economies around the world, supporting investments in both rural and urban economic activities – working mainly for the large funding agencies including the European Commission EuropeAid projects.  Richard was on the staff at the University of Bradford Centre for International Development for four years where he led projects in transformational change in countries ranging from Poland and Albania in Europe, to Kenya and Ethiopia.  Richard has worked in over 20 countries and lived in Tanzania for four years with his family where he worked for Tearfund delivering infrastructure projects.   He now lives on the edge of the West Pennine Moors, where he finds little use for his second language of Kiswahili.  He is a keen fell walker, painter, poet and gardener.

    Colin is an Owner and Director at the architecture and BIM consultancy firm Bruach Design and Consultancy Ltd.  He is an experienced architect, contract administrator and lead consultant, with a considerable knowledge of the built environment and delivering construction projects.  Colin also has experience of implementing BIM within organisations, providing guidance on the required standards, and delivering training, support and ongoing consultancy and advice to a range of construction clients, contractors and consultants.  Colin is an member of the RIBA, RIAS, ARB, APS, is a BIM Member of the BRE Academy, and was one of the first people in Scotland to be recognised by the BRE as a “BIM Certified Practitioner”, specifically in Project Information Management.
